In the Megaman games, Mega Man is always being teleported to the Robot Master's levels, but what do we really know about the process? Is it a matter-energy conversion, or is Mega Man being converted into data and only that data is being transmitted to a new location? If so, what happens to the original Mega Man? Or, at the very least, what happens to his consciousness? Then again, what happens to his consciousness when he "dies" in a game? Is his consciousness automatically transmitted to a new body, which is them "beamed" in? I suppose, given that Mega Man really is just a robot, so his soul is just a computer program, these kinds of existential questions don't have quite the same impact they would if we were talking about human beings.
Anyway, I guess my point is that if teleports were real, I'm not sure I'd be willing to risk my life in such a dangerous mode of transportation. Not that cars aren't just as dangerous, but that's not the point.
By the way, the title comes from a line in Galaxy Quest, which was a fun movie, even if it did have Tim Allen in it.
