I already knew that Bob and George were fated to be here, as evidence by the characters in the present knowing about their activities, especially when previous time travel storylines haven't worked that way, but they didn't know that. And the other side of the predestination paradox is that if you're fated to go back in time, what if instead of accidentally doing something you weren't supposed to do, you're accidentally not doing something you're supposed to be doing? For Bob, he just can't win this argument with George's anxiety.
