I don't think Feniks can really shoot lasers from his eyes, but it seemed a suitable way to stop Beat. Unfortunately, Mini-Dave didn't think about what would happen if Beat let go of Mini-Rick. Also, Mini-Dave is wearing a purple Methat because when flying around on a (relatively) giant bird, safety is always important. Once I had determined that the Helmeted Author was evil, it was only a matter of time before he attacked the comic. I wasn't necessarily connecting his statements here to the current storyline, but that was no reason not to have the Helmeted Author start talking about it.
