This is probably my most complicated convolution. To begin with, keep in mind that the Helmeted Author did two things concerning the jar: First, he made it so the Author couldn not break out on his own. Second, he put a hex on it that would instantly kill anyone who touched it. What the Author is suggesting is that there was one character who could, and did, touch the jar: George. For my explanation, check the commentary for the next comic.
