If there's one problem with Bass's plan, it's that it's too good. All the points Bass makes are valid, and that's just plain scary. Proto Man proved that blasters won't work, since Mynd can literally knock the shots out of the air. A full frontal assault won't work, since you can't get close enough before Mynd can cut you down. Which means if they could just get that beam saber away from him, he'd be vulnerable, as that appears to be his only weapon. If there's any conspiracy, it's that I love to mess with readers. I just hope the readers enjoy getting messed with as much as I enjoy messing with them.
